Nuo ciklono jis skiriasi tuo, kad cilindro vidinės sienelės laistomos vandeniu, todėl išcentrinės jėgos atskirtos kietosios ir skystosios dalelės prilimpa prie vandens plėvelės, yra nuplaunamos ir atgal į dujų srautą nebepatenka.
